Our Lady of China, also known as the Madonna of Donglu, is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary, commemorating her reported appearances in Donglu village, China, during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. The story involves a miraculous intervention by the Virgin Mary, who appeared to protect the Catholic villagers from attacks In 1900, the Boxer Rebellion, an anti-foreign and anti-Christian movement, targeted Chinese Christians and foreigners. During the attacks on Donglu, a village with a large Catholic population, Our Lady is said to have appeared in the sky, dressed in white. According to the story, a group of bandits shot at the apparition, but the bullets had no effect. A fiery horseman, believed to be St. Michael, then appeared and chased away the attackers.
